Students

I love teaching. My students say I am uncompromising and sometimes too demanding – they are right. Then again, many go on to achieve their full potential and contribute to the quality of life in their respective communities. That is the ultimate reward for me. If my students can find themselves in the sense of feeling good about what they do and who they are then the job of truly teaching them will have been accomplished. They will have become their own best teachers. I am proud to have taught at the Conservatoire de musique de Montreal since 1990 and have regularly taught at summer festivals, including nine years at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, CA and several summers at The Banff Centre. I continue to give guest master classes in North America and Europe. I am continually amazed at the increasingly high level of playing – it makes me want to practice more!

They say the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Look through the accomplishments of some of these fabulous young people and you be the judge. However, remember that success is not always measured through accomplishment. Finding happiness and fulfillment cannot be measured and is probably the most important accomplishment of all.
